1 • ESU (2-0), picked 5th in the PSAC East, travels to Shippensburg (0-2), the defending divisional champ and preseason favorite, in the PSAC East opener for both schools.
2 • Shippensburg won last year's meeting, 63-21, at Eiler-Martin Stadium. ESU led 14-7 early in the 2nd quarter before the Red Raiders rattled off 56 consecutive points. The 63 points were the 2nd-most allowed by an ESU defense.
3 • ESU is coming off a 70-7 win at Seton Hill on Saturday night. The Warriors led 30-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 42-0 at halftime. Their yardage differential of 398 (535 to 137) was 3rd-most for the Warriors under head coach
Denny Douds.
4 • Douds, in his 40th season, is 25th in college football history with 239 career wins. He tied Woody Hayes with 238 in the opener.
5 • Shippensburg, 7th in the AFCA DII preseason poll, opened with a 33-0 loss at #25 Shepherd. They trailed 44-10 at halftime in a 58-38 loss at Slippery Rock last week.
6 • Shippensburg QB Zach Zulli was the 3rd PSAC player to win the Harlon Hill Award last year, joining ESU QB Jimmy Terwilliger (2005) and Bloomsburg TB Irv Sigler (1997).
7 • Ship led DII in total offense (529.9 ypg) and was 2nd in passing (387.7 ypg) and scoring (46.9 ppg) last year. Through 2 games, the Red Raiders are 129th in total offense (305.5), 55th in passing (269.0) and 125th in scoring (19.0).
8 • Shippensburg is 163rd (last) in DII in 3rd down conversion percentage at 13.5 (5-37). ESU is 7th in 3rd down defense at 19.2 (5-26).
9 • ESU is 5th in DII in time of possession (36:37) and 18th in rushing (255.5). Last week at Seton Hill, 4 backs had 10+ carries for the 1st time since 1979, led by R-Fr. TB
Robert Healy (16, 111 yards).
10 • ESU leads the PSAC in total defense (269.5 ypg) after holding Seton Hill to 137 yards, including -11 yards rushing. The Warriors also have solid pass defense numbers, ranking 15th in DII in pass efficiency defense (88.1).
