Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University twice fought back from a one-goal deficit, but Steve Petrosino's header in the 71st minute proved to be the difference as Caldwell came away with a 3-2 win in non-conference men's soccer on Tuesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Petrosino headed in a free kick taken by Yousef Elhusseini just three minutes after senior forward Nemanja Nikolic scored for ESU, assisted by sophomore forward Jonathan Stuppe, in the 68th minute.

Caldwell (3-1) opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Kris Olsen-Barr converted an assist from Sjoerd Blankenstein.

It was 1-0 for just under seven minutes before senior midfielder Matthew Geidner scored his sixth career goal, and first since 2011, assisted by senior midfielder Marc DeFeo in the 27th minute.

The score was knotted at 1-1 through intermission, and Haakon Sulheim's unassisted goal 7:24 into the second half gave Caldwell another lead before Nikolic tied it.

ESU (0-5-1) held a 17-9 advantage in shots and an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal, its first of the season, but Caldwell goalkeeper Michael Hartmann had nine saves.

The Warriors, 0-2 in PSAC action after opening against powerful programs Gannon and Mercyhurst last weekend, host West Chester in their next action on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
