LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Michael Clarke scored two goals in the first 17 minutes to lead Georgian Court to a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in the men's soccer season opener for both schools on Friday afternoon.

Clarke scored in the ninth and 17th minutes, and Ben Vergara added the Lions' third goal just before halftime in the 43rd minute.

ESU held a 14-13 advantage in shots and both goalkeepers made five saves – ESU sophomore Callum Hampson and GCU's Rylan Gentil.

The game was Georgian Court's first as a varsity program after becoming a coeducational institution this fall.

ESU travels to Davis & Elkins for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
