Redshirt junior quarterback Matt Soltes, third in Division II in passing (358.9 ypg) and total offense (402.0 ypg) entering the week, was 20-for-31 for 266 yards and a touchdown before leaving due to injury in the third quarter.

Kutztown led 10-9 at halftime after scoreless first quarter, but outscored the Warriors 21-7 in the second half to improve to 4-4 (4-3 PSAC) after losses to PSAC East co-leaders West Chester and Bloomsburg the last two weeks.

Kellen Williams (three catches, 107 yards, two TD) took a pass from Chad Barton (12-for-19, 236 yards, two TD) for a 74-yard touchdown on the second play of the third quarter to give the Golden Bears a 17-9 lead.

The Warriors moved inside the Kutztown 10-yard line on their ensuing possession, but Soltes was sacked, fumbled and was injured on a second-and-eight from the Kutztown nine-yard line with just under 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

Kutztown went 81 yards in nine plays, capped by a one-yard TD run by Wah, to extend the lead to 24-9 with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter.

ESU had an opportunity to get it back to a one-score game early in the fourth quarter after an interception by sophomore free safety Dean Vitale put the Warriors inside the Kutztown 30-yard line, but a fumbled shotgun snap knocked ESU out of scoring territory.

Kutztown went ahead 31-9 with an 88-yard, six-minute 40-second scoring drive with Barton hitting Williams for a 14-yard TD.

Junior wide receiver Joe Welk returned the ensuing kickoff for a 93-yard TD to close the scoring with 5:35 remaining.

In the first half, Alec Rosenfeld gave KU a 3-0 lead with a 28-yard field goal early in the second quarter.

Kutztown responded on a 42-yard TD run by Wah with 1:24 left in the half, but Soltes drove the Warriors inside the KU 10-yard line before freshman kicker Matt Smith made a 22-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 10-9 with 10 seconds left in the period.
