EAST STROUDSBURG - Redshirt sophomore quarterback Bruce Campbell threw three touchdown passes in his second career start and East Stroudsburg University cut a 21-point deficit to four entering the fourth quarter, but No. 18-ranked West Chester held on for a 35-24 win in PSAC East football on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Senior wide receiver Dusty Reed had 10 catches for 152 yards and Campbell threw TD passes to R-Jr. WR Jon Schnaars, R-So. FB Anthony Lettieri and R-So. TB Robert Healy.

West Chester (9-1, 8-1) was ranked No. 3 in last week's NCAA DII Super Region One rankings, and jumped out to a 21-0 lead - scoring on its first two possessions and adding a third score late in the second quarter.

Campbell hit Schnaars for a 22-yard TD with three seconds left in the first half, getting the Warriors on the board and cutting West Chester's lead to 21-7 at the break.

ESU went 65 yards on 10 plays after receiving the second-half kickoff and Campbell tossed a three-yard TD pass to Lettieri to make it 21-14 with 11:51 left in the third quarter. The Warriors got the ball back on an interception by R-Sr. S Anthony Singlar in West Chester territory, and freshman kicker Matt Smith made a career-long 38-yard field goal to get the Warriors within 21-17 at the 8:54 mark.

After an exchange of punts, West Chester drove 83 yards, capped by a 12-yard TD run by Brandon Monk (36 carries, 257 yards, two TD), to take a 28-17 lead with 1:46 left in the third quarter.

ESU responded with another TD drive to score on the final play of the third quarter, making it 28-24 entering the fourth, capped by a 10-yard TD pass from Campbell to Healy.

The Warriors' defense forced a punt and ESU took over in West Chester territory, but ESU turned the ball over on downs and WCU drove 58 yards in five minutes, taking a 35-24 lead on an 11-yard TD pass from Sean McCartney to Tim Brown.

An interception by WCU's Brandon Pepper inside the five-yard line ended ESU's next drive, and the Golden Rams erased the final 5:23 off the clock.

Campbell made his second straight start, replacing R-Jr. QB Matt Soltes, a Harlon Hill Award candidate who was injured early in the third quarter of a 31-16 loss to Kutztown on Oct. 25.

Monk led a West Chester offense that ran for 299 yards and gained 471 total yards.

ESU had 356 yards, with Campbell throwing for 266 yards and Sr. TB Derrick Dyer leading the ground game with 44 yards on five carries. Sr. P Jordan Bair threw a 15-yard pass for a first down on a fake punt on ESU's first offensive series.

ESU finishes the 2014 season at Gannon (8-2, 7-2) on Saturday. The Golden Knights tied for the PSAC West regular season title but dropped a head-to-head tiebreaker with Slippery Rock, which will host Bloomsburg in the State Game.
