FLEMINGTON, N.J. – Senior outfielder Chris Knott set a school record for career triples and moved within one extra-base hit of the career mark in that category, leading East Stroudsburg University to a doubleheader sweep (12-0, 11-1) of the University of the Sciences in non-conference baseball on Tuesday at Diamond Nation.

ESU improved to 12-3 going into this weekend's PSAC East series with Millersville, which will be played Friday and Saturday at the Marauders' Cooper Park. Friday's doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played at ESU as the Warriors open defense of their 2013 PSAC championship, their first since 1971.

Knott was 5-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and four runs to lead an ESU offense that produced 29 hits, 13 for extra bases (nine doubles, two triples and two home runs) and 22 runs in 13 innings.

He belted his third triple of the season and 15th of his career in the opener, breaking a mark of 14 set by second baseman Ryan Hatfield from 2000-03.

Knott is second at ESU with 65 career extra-base hits behind Kevin Thompson, who had 66 from 2005-09. He ranks fifth with 36 doubles (eight from the record of 44), and tied for fifth with 14 home runs (three from the record of 17). He is also second with 120 career RBI behind Thompson's record of 120, and is ranked in or just outside the top 10 in every career offensive category.

ESU remained ranked No. 20 in this week's NCBWA Division II poll for the third straight week. The Warriors are also No. 2 in the NCBWA Atlantic Region poll for the third straight week.

ESU's pitching staff combined on a one-hitter in the opener. Freshman Ben Bortz went the first three innings, surrendering just a two-out single in the second inning. Senior Ryan Lubreski, sophomore Brandon Holup and Dan Woodley and Tyler Eckman all threw an inning each without allowing a hit.

Freshman Ian Allen saw his first career action on the mound in game two, striking out four and allowing two hits and a walk in 3.0 innings. He was relieved by redshirt sophomore Matt Festa, senior Matt Smith, junior Andrew Furber and senior Keenan Stare.

Senior catcher Eric Forth was 3-for-3 with his third career home run in the first game. Sophomore catcher Ryan Richards had his first career homer in game two.

Senior SS Eric Linares had three of ESU's eight extra-base hits in the opener, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI and three runs. Junior OF Nick Espino tripled and Allen and senior 1B/DH Mike Tenaglia both doubled.

The Warriors added five extra-base hits in game two, getting two doubles from Knott (3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs), doubles from redshirt senior C/DH Nico Delerme and redshirt sophomore 3B Drew Hercik, and Richards' three-run homer in the second inning.
