PHILADELPHIA - Senior outfielder Chris Knott set a school record for career RBI and redshirt sophomore OF Matt Walewski hit a grand slam for his first career home run, leading East Stroudsburg University to a non-conference doubleheader sweep (13-4, 8-1) at Philadelphia University on Thursday.

The Warriors (15-6) will host Shippensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a PSAC East doubleheader, followed by a trip to Shippensburg on Sunday. Friday's doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

Freshman Ian Allen (5.2 IP, 3 earned runs) and junior Andrew Furber (5.0 IP, 0 earned runs) both delivered strong outings on the mound to improve to 2-0 on the season, as ESU held Philadelphia U to five runs and 15 baserunners in the doubleheader.

Knott was 5-for-9 with two doubles, a triple, four RBI and three runs, breaking the career RBI record (128) that he shared for five days with Kevin Thompson (124, 2005-09). Knott extended his records with 71 career extra-base hits and 16 triples, and is one total base from tying the mark of 297 held by Jacob DeBoer (2004-07) and Ryan Hatfield (2000-03).

Knott was 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs in the opener and sophomore C Ryan Richards had three hits, two doubles and four RBI. Senior OF Eric Forth also had three hits as the Warriors had 16 hits in the contest.

Walewski's grand slam in the fourth inning was the big hit in game two, and Furber allowed just an unearned run on the mound.

This weekend's series vs. Shippensburg (16-3, 4-0) will feature the No. 1 and No. 3-ranked teams in this week's NCBWA Atlantic Region poll. ESU, the defending PSAC champion, opened PSAC East play with a 1-3 series against Millersville last weekend. Shippensburg swept Mansfield, winning two games last Friday and two on Thursday to complete the series.
