ESU Men’s Basketball Falls at No. 7 IUP, 82-73

INDIANA, Pa. - Brandon Norfleet scored 23 points and Dante Lombari had 17 points and six assists, leading No. 7-ranked IUP to an 82-73 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's basketball on Saturday at Memorial Field House.

Junior forward Steve Harris had 17 points and 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double and senior guard Jamal Nwaniemeka scored 16 points for ESU (3-1, 1-1). Harris had 19 points and 17 rebounds in ESU's 85-61 win vs. Shippensburg in its PSAC East opener on Wednesday.

Junior forward Rasheed Moore added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors.

IUP led 49-34 at halftime, closing the half on a 22-11 run over the final 7:30. ESU closed the margin to six points (60-54) with 12:30 remaining but wouldn't get any closer.

Devon Cottrell had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Daddy Ugbede had 12 points off the bench for IUP (2-2, 1-1), the defending national runner-up. IUP was picked second in the PSAC West preseason poll and fell 76-72 to Bowie State last weekend and 64-57 at PSAC West preseason favorite Mercyhurst on Wednesday.

IUP held a 17-10 advantage in turnovers and 43-34 edge in rebounds, including 22 offensive boards.

ESU travels to Seton Hill (0-2, 0-1) on Sunday for a 3 p.m. tip-off. The Griffins dropped their PSAC opener to Bloomsburg, 88-74, on Saturday.

* ESU had maintained at least a share of the PSAC East lead every day since December 1, 2012.
* The Warriors have won 3 straight PSAC East regular season titles (first school since Millersville from 1985-87), and 3 straight outright titles (first school since Cheyney from 1976-80).
* ESU was picked as the PSAC East preseason favorite this season.
