EAST STROUDSBURG - Jaymon Mason scored 27 points and hit the game-winner with 2.9 seconds left, giving Edinboro a 68-66 win at East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's basketball on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Mason scored 19 points in the first half and hit two three's early in the second half, the last at the 13:39 mark, then was scoreless until delivering the game for the Fighting Scots (4-2, 4-1). Mason entered the night third in the PSAC with 20.8 points per game and also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Junior forward Steve Harris had 13 points and 14 rebounds, junior forward Rasheed Moore had 11 points and 11 boards, and senior guard Jamal Nwaniemeka and redshirt junior Quindell Brice scored 12 points each for ESU (6-2, 3-2).

Nwaniemeka hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 66-all with 29.1 seconds left for the Warriors.

ESU led 37-36 at halftime, but trailed 55-46 with just under 13 minutes left before getting back in the game. The Warriors cut into the deficit with a 10-2 run, then answered a three by Henri Wade-Chatman (14 points) with five straight points, four by Brice, to lead 61-60 with 6:29 remaining.

A layup by Harris gave ESU a 63-62 edge with 4:21 left. Tommy Scales (16 points, 11 rebounds) had a second-chance bucket for Edinboro, and Sheldon Brogdon hit a layup for a 66-63 edge for the Fighting Scots.

ESU got two defensive stops before Nwaniemeka tied it. The Warriors managed to push for a three-pointer by freshman guard Najee Walls (two points, seven assists) at the buzzer, but the shot was just long.

Mason was 6-for-12 from the three-point line with Edinboro going 9-for-25 as a team. The Fighting Scots shot just 34.3 percent (24-for-70) overall but were 11-for-11 at the foul line, stayed with ESU on the glass (ESU 45-41 advantage) and held a 21-18 advantage in turnovers.

Harris, third in the PSAC in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and first in field goal percentage (71.7) entering the weekend, shot 5-for-7 from the field and had his fourth double-double in six games. Harris (12 points, 14 rebounds) and Moore (18 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles in ESU's 91-74 win at Bloomsburg on Tuesday.

ESU hosts Mercyhurst (5-2, 3-2), the PSAC East preseason favorite, on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Lakers won 88-48 at Bloomsburg on Friday night after building a 49-10 halftime lead.
