EPHRATA - East Stroudsburg University scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the nightcap at 5-5, but Millersville put the game away in the top of the seventh and took both ends of a PSAC East baseball doubleheader (4-3, 10-5) on Monday at Ephrata High School.
Millersville (16-6, 5-3) captured the series, 3-1, after the two schools split on Sunday. Millersville won the series opener, 4-3, before the Warriors posted an 11-5 victory in game two.
ESU (13-5, 4-4), which was coming off a 3-1 series win over defending PSAC champion Kutztown last weekend, will take on Shippensburg (8-12, 5-3) in a four-game conference series this weekend.
In the first game on Monday, sophomore pitcher
Ian Allen (3-1) took his first loss of the season but helped his own cause with a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to cut ESU's deficit to 4-3.
Allen's fourth homer of the year accounted for the final runs of the game, as Millersville sophomore Brandon Miller threw a complete game (7.0 IP, 3 runs, 4 hits, 4 strikeouts, 1 walk) and ESU couldn't scratch out the tying run over the final four innings.
Sophomore
Ben Bortz threw 4.2 innings of scoreless relief (3 strikeouts, 0 walks, 3 hits) for ESU after coming on for Allen in the third.
In game two, Millersville methodically opened a 5-0 lead going to the bottom of the sixth, before the Warriors scored five runs on five hits and an error to tie the game at 5-all.
Junior 1B
Dylan Tamecki, named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week earlier Monday, capped the inning with a game-tying two-run homer. Redshirt sophomore 3B

Jim McDade got the win for Millersville with a complete game (7.0 IP, 5 runs, 4 earned, 6 hits, 4 strikeouts, 0 walks).
ESU sophomore

Young (13) and Tamecki (10) both had hitting streaks ended in game one. Young's streak is ESU's fourth-best since 2007.
