Eiler-Martin Stadium recordsEAST STROUDSBURG - Senior
Christina O'Connor won her fifth career PSAC championship, and fourth straight, in the high jump and junior
Eric Conard won the men's decathlon to highlight East Stroudsburg University's performance on the second day of the 2015 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
O'Connor cleared 5-7 1/4 to win the high jump and moved into third on ESU's career list of PSAC titles, trailing only teammate sprinter
Danielle Smith (eight) and distance standout Sue Carden (seven), who competed in multiple track events.
O'Connor ranks tied for fifth on the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying list (5-8) which she cleared at ESU's All-American Meet two weeks ago. Her season will likely extend to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where she is a three-time All-American and four-time national qualifier. She was the PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet in the winter, tying a PSAC record at 5-10.
Conard is one of four ESU men who have combined for five PSAC championships in the decathlon. He joins Lance Branyan (1988, 1991), Greg Tymon (1990) and Dan Johnson, who won ESU's most recent title in 2012.
Conard scored 6,209 points, a 230-point PR and an NCAA provisional qualifying score. He set PR's in four events - two on Friday (long jump - 19-11 1/2 and high jump - 5-7 1/4), and two on Saturday (110m hurdles - 15.94 and pole vault - 14-5 1/4).
Conard was eighth after the first day of competition, but gained huge ground in the eighth and ninth events. He had the field's top mark in both the pole vault (14-5 1/4), where he improved his PR by almost 14 inches, and javelin (171-11).
His final margin of victory was 117 points over Shippensburg's Danny Meyer (6,092). Conard entered seeded third on the entry list (5,743 points).
ESU's women had three individual scorers on Friday - O'Connor winning the high jump, junior
Tirzah Johnson (3rd in the long jump) and graduate student
Elizabeth Madden (4th in the hammer). Johnson and Madden both had PR's.
ESU's men had eight scoring performances from Conard in the decathlon, senior
Damien Boham (3rd in the 800m), graduate student
Jack Rosenstein (2nd) and senior
Mike Smith (6th) in the hammer, Smith (4th) in the shot put, sophomore
Alec Lederer (6th in the steeplechase) and freshman
Zach Dillon (7th) and sophomore
Steven Morgan (8th) in the long jump.
The rest of the Warriors' top performance came in preliminary events on the track, setting up a big day of finals on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Smith qualified fourth for the finals in both the 200m and 400m as she looks to add to her school-record eight career PSAC championships. Freshman
Keneesha Jones is the No. 3 qualifier in the 100m dash, and sophomore
Kelley Anne Stuetz ran a PR to qualify No. 6 for the final in the 400m hurdles.
For the men, Boham (47.67 - NCAA provisional) and junior
Derrick Washington are the No. 2 and No. 3 qualifiers in the 400m, with freshman
Juwaan Walker No. 6. Washington and Walker both ran PR's and Boham's time is .01 off his personal best.
Morgan is the top qualifier in the 110m hurdles, with sophomore
Ronald D'Eliseo fourth and junior
Adam Robertino fifth. Morgan also qualified seventh for the 200m final after scoring in the long jump on Friday.
D'Eliseo is the No. 3 qualifier in the 400m hurdles, improving his NCAA provisional time to 53.04.
ESU's men's and women's 4x100m relays both qualified for Saturday's finals as well.
Along with all of Saturday's track finals, the Warriors have several title contenders competing in finals in field events on the meet's closing day.
Junior
William Berry, the defending high jump champ, has the PSAC's No. 2 mark entering the final (6-10 3/4), tied for ninth in DII.
Senior
Casey Ciaston, last year's runner-up in the discus, is seeded No. 3 this spring (158-11).
PSAC OVERVIEWShippensburg, which has won six straight men's and five straight women's outdoor titles, leads the team standings on both sides.
