EAST STROUDSBURG - Sten Marcson converted a penalty kick with 2:37 remaining, lifting Mercyhurst to a 2-1 win over No. 17-ranked East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Mercyhurst took a 1-0 lead on a 31st-minute goal by Thomas Davis before senior forward Casey Choffy leveled the score at 1-1 in the 75th minute on a header from a free kick assisted by junior back Casey Albino.

Mercyhurst (2-5, 2-1), the defending PSAC champion, held a 13-11 edge in shots. The Lakers have won two of the last three PSAC titles (2012, 2014) and NCAA Atlantic Region titles (2012, 2013).

Freshman goalkeeper Will Boerema made five saves for the Warriors (4-2, 2-2). Nicholas Smith had three saves for Mercyhurst.

Choffy's goal was his seventh of the season and the ninth of his career. He entered the week with six goals through the first four games (1.50 per game), tied for fourth-most in NCAA Division II.

ESU played its first home game with a national ranking since October 9, 2010, when the Warriors posted a 1-0 win vs. California.

The Warriors, who opened 4-0 before a 1-0 loss at Millersville on Tuesday, host Felician in a non-conference game on Monday at 7 p.m.
