ESU Men’s Soccer Falls at Lock Haven, 4-2

LOCK HAVEN - Troy Amspacher scored two goals, including the go-ahead penalty kick in the 71st minute, as Lock Haven posted a 4-2 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday night at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Sophomore forward Christian Bukowski scored his sixth goal of the season for the Warriors (5-3, 2-3) in the sixth minute and sophomore midfielder James McMahon had his second of the year in the 67th minute to tie the game, before LHU (4-3-1, 3-1) scored twice in the final 20 minutes.

Bukowski put ESU in front 5:23 into the contest on an assist from junior midfielder Andrew McGinley, but Amspacher scored in the 22nd minute and Asher Klahold in the 38th, both off free kicks, for Lock Haven.

Zach Hommey scored Lock Haven's fourth goal in the 84th minute.

LHU had a slight 16-15 edge in shots. Freshman Will Boerema had five saves for ESU, while Troy Teserak (one save) played the first 71 minutes for LHU and Jonathan Howitt (three saves) was in goal for the final 19 minutes.

ESU and Lock Haven are the two most accomplished men's soccer programs in PSAC history, combining to win 39 of the 51 PSAC titles that have been awarded (LHU 20, ESU 19). The two schools combined to win 31 of 32 championships from 1976 through 2007.

The Warriors hold a 42-31-6 lead in the all-time series, including 11-5 head-to-head in PSAC championship games. ESU won 2-1 at Lock Haven last year, its first in the series since 2010. The Warriors are 16-19-3 at Lock Haven since the first meeting in 1939.

ESU hosts Goldey-Beacom in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and resumes PSAC play with a trip to California on Friday.

* Bukowski (currently 6 goals, 3 assists) and senior forward Casey Choffy (7 goals, 1 assist) were the only PSAC teammates (and one of 6 tandems of 199 DII schools) with 5 goals this season entering the week.
