Warriors on John Mendola ShowEAST STROUDSBURG - Christian Mortellite scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half and Donell Diggs added 22, leading Bloomsburg to a 91-84 win at East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East men's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Senior guard
Jamal Nwaniemeka scored 16 points to lead ESU (15-4, 11-4), which had a nine-game winning streak end, falling for the first time since a 72-67 setback vs. Mercyhurst on December 5.
Junior forward
Rasheed Moore, ESU's top scorer (13.3 ppg), scored 13 points in the first half before leaving due to injury. Redshirt junior guard

Steve Harris had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors.
Mortellite grabbed 11 rebounds to go with his 26 points for Bloomsburg (12-7, 10-5). Diggs was 14-for-15 at the foul line and also had seven assists for the Huskies. Charles Haigler (14) and Alex Prislupsky (10) were also in double figures.
ESU led 19-2 at the 12-minute mark for the first half and by as many as 18 (24-6) before Bloomsburg rallied with a 16-0 run. The Warriors led 43-38 at halftime.
The Huskies cut the ESU lead to one (44-43) early in the second half before the Warriors went on a 12-2 spurt, taking a 56-45 lead on a steal and dunk by Harris with just under 16 minutes left.
Once again Bloomsburg rallied, closing the margin to one on three occasions, including on a three by Mortellite with 9 minutes left.
Haigler gave Bloomsburg its first lead (71-70) at the 5:57 mark, and Mortellite gave BU the lead for good with a pair of free throws 17 seconds later as the Huskies closed the game on a 20-8 run.

Will Brown, but Diggs made two at the line on Bloomsburg's next trip, and two more after the Huskies got a stop. Diggs was 7-for-7 at the line in the second half.
ESU was looking for its sixth winning streak of 10+ games in the last nine seasons. The Warriors averaged more than 96 points per game with an average margin of victory of 26 points during their nine-game run.
Nwaniemeka surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career at ESU, one game after scoring his 1,000th collegiate point in a 94-51 win vs. Millersville on Wednesday. Nwaniemeka entered with 1,003 collegiate points (992 at ESU), including 11 as a freshman at Rider in 2012-13, before transferring to ESU, where he was the PSAC Tournament MVP as a sophomore.
ESU heads to Shippensburg (12-7, 9-6) for a key PSAC East game on Monday night, postponed due to last Saturday's winter weather event. Ship had won seven straight before falling 81-70 at Bloomsburg on Wednesday and 64-59 at West Chester on Saturday.
