EAST STROUDSBURG – Gabriel Torres registered a hat trick, including two goals in the opening 17 minutes, to lead the University of the District of Columbia to a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in non-conference men's soccer at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Saturday.

UDC (4-10-1) became only the second team to score three goals against the Warriors (7-7-1) this season. Torres struck in the 13th, 17th and 46th minutes.

ESU enjoyed a 7-4 advantage in shots, led by three from freshman midfielder Irvin Zuzic, but goalkeeper Joao Brusamolin made four saves to secure the clean sheet.

Torres' second goal of the afternoon came on a penalty kick, and he completed the hat trick only 13 seconds into the second half.

The Warriors suffered their first home defeat since opening the season with a 1-0 overtime loss to Shippensburg on Sept. 3. They are now 3-2-1 at Eiler-Martin Stadium in 2016.

Prior to the contest, Casey Albino, Christian Casal, Ryan Lesane, Andrew McGinley, Olatunde Oladipo, Shaquille Stephenson and Jeff Wolf were recognized as they took part in their final home game at ESU.

The Warriors return to PSAC competition for their regular season finale at Gannon at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday. ESU, currently tied for sixth in the PSAC standings with 16 points, is looking for its first postseason berth since 2010. The Golden Knights (10-4-1, 6-2-1) currently sit in fourth place with 19 points and two league games remaining.
