SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A 36th minute goal from Patrick Sullivan gave Slippery Rock a 1-0 home PSAC victory over East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon.
Sullivan's strike, assisted by George Oakley, came from 10 yards out near the center of the box. Slippery Rock (3-6-2, 2-3-2 PSAC) snapped a three-game winless streak, while the Warriors (5-5-1, 3-3-1 PSAC) were shutout for only the second time this season.
SRU goalie Steven Rerick made four saves to help earn the clean sheet, while the home side was also aided by a team save off a header from junior back
Ryan Lesane in the 40th minute.
Freshman midfielder
Marcus Torgersson finished with three shots (2 SOG) to lead ESU, which was outshot 11-8 overall in the contest. Two of those shots came in the second half, and they were the only two managed by the Warriors in the game's final 45 minutes.
ESU earned two corner kicks in the final 10 minutes of play, but the Slippery Rock defense held firm to preserve the shutout.
