William Berry placed 12th in the high jump, clearing 6-9, for second team All-America honors on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships at Pittsburg State University.
Berry (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) cleared 6-9 on his third and final attempt after a clean effort at 6-7 to open the competition. He bowed out on three attempts at 6-11.
Berry earns his second career All-America honor, previously finishing 10th outdoors last year with a mark of 6-10 3/4.
He made his fourth career NCAA trip overall and is the first ESU men's high jump to make four NCAA appearances.
Berry entered with a PR of 7-0 1/2, tied for 4th in DII and the first seven-foot effort in program history, which he cleared on January 15 at Kutztown.
Berry won his third career PSAC title, and his first indoors, with a mark of 6-9- 3/4 on February 28 at Edinboro.
On Friday, graduate student
Travis Toth earned his second career All-America honor, gaining second team status by finishing 10th in the weight throw (61-9 3/4). Toth was previously eighth in the hammer throw outdoors in 2014.
Berry and Toth are ESU's 17th and 18th multiple-time All-Americans in men's track and field, and two of 24 to be named All-America overall.
