MANSFIELD - Redshirt senior Cody Klinger took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and No. 12-ranked East Stroudsburg University hit four home runs in a 14-1 win in the opener, and the Warriors completed this weekend's four-game PSAC East series sweep vs. Mansfield with a 7-4 win in the nightcap on Saturday at Shaute Field.

ESU (34-11, 17-7) secured a spot in the PSAC Tournament, which begins May 8 in Butler, and tied the school record for wins with five games remaining in the regular season. The Warriors face West Chester in a four-game series next weekend.

ESU's power surge sets a school record for home runs in a season (48), surpassing the previous mark of 44 set in 2009.

The Warriors outscored Mansfield 43-7 in this weekend's series - winning 10-1 and 12-1 on Friday behind strong pitching performances from redshirt senior Matt Festa, who improved to 10-0 in 10 starts, and junior Tyler Eckman, who threw 6.0 shutout innings.

ESU's four-game sweep is its third vs. Mansfield in program history (1998, 2014 and 2016).

The Warriors tied the school record for wins set by the 2013 PSAC championship team that finished 34-18. ESU has won 30 games for the fourth time in school history, all in the last eight seasons, also hitting the mark in 2009 (32-22) and 2015 (31-19).

Redshirt junior SS Conner Crookham hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the opener, and sophomore catcher Steven Zimmerman, Jr. redshirt sophomore OF Robert Bennie and redshirt senior 1B Matt Walewski all homered in a seven-run seventh as the Warriors put the game away.

Klinger retired 17 of the first 18 batters he faced, issuing just a two-out walk in the first inning, until a two-out double in the sixth for Mansfield's (18-24, 6-18) first hit of the game.

Klinger threw his first career complete game, allowing one run on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.

In the nightcap, ESU broke open a 7-1 lead through six innings, then held on after Mansfield got the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh before redshirt sophomore left-hander Dan Woodley got the final out for his third save of the season.

Seven ESU starters had multiple hits as the Warriors had 35 baserunners on 18 hits, 15 walks and two HBP - including eight hits, 13 walks and one HBP in the opener.

The Warriors tied two individual season school records - Bennie (59 runs) tied the mark held by Tadgh LaBar (2000) and Mike Bortz (2009), and redshirt senior 3B Drew Hercik (42 walks) equaled the mark set by Zac Menendez (2012).

Bennie was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, walk, two RBI and four runs; Zimmerman was 3-for-6 with a homer (his 3rd of the series), walk, three RBI and two runs; redshirt junior OF Casey Saverio was 2-for-5 with four walks, RBI and three run; sophomore OF Christian Rishel was 2-for-5 with two walks, two sacrifice flies, three RBI and two runs; Walewski was 2-for-6 with a double, homer, walk, HBP, sacrifice fly, four RBI and two runs; and Hercik was 1-for-5 with a double, four walks and three runs to highlight the offense.

In the four-game series, Bennie was 8-for-17 with two walks, three doubles, a homer, two RBI and seven runs; Zimmerman was 6-for-13 with a walk, double, three homers, 10 RBI and five runs; and Walewski was 4-for-9 with two walks, four HBP, double, homer, 11 RBI and four runs.

ESU qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons - 2010, 2011, 2013 (PSAC champions), 2015 (PSAC runner-up) and 2016.

GAME 1 - W 14-1

ESU jumped on Mansfield with three runs in the first and second innings, while Klinger was unhittable into the sixth.

Bennie drew a leadoff walk and Crookham homered two batters later for a 2-0 lead, and Hercik walked, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Rishel.

In the second, Young singled, Bennie doubled and Allen walked to load the bases for Crookham, who was hit by a pitch for an RBI. Bennie scored on a passed ball and Rishel lifted a sacrifice fly later in the inning.

ESU made it 7-0 in the fifth when Saverio walked, stole second, moved to third on a throwing error and scored on an RBI single by Zimmerman.

Then the Warriors broke it open in the seventh - a two-run homer by Zimmerman, two-run homer by Bennie and three-run blast by Walewski - to push the lead to 14-0 before Mansfield got its only run off Klinger in the bottom half.

Bennie, Zimmerman and redshirt junior 2B Jay Young all had two-hit games for the Warriors, and Hercik and Saverio both walked four times.

GAME 2 - W 7-4

ESU continued its offensive surge with two runs each in the second and third, and a three-spot in the sixth, before holding Mansfield in the bottom of the seventh to complete the sweep.

Walewski started the Warriors in the second with a leadoff double, Rishel walked and Saverio had an RBI single to get ESU on the board, followed by a walk by Zimmerman and an RBI fielders choice by junior SS Billy Sablinski for a 2-0 lead.

Back-to-back one-out doubles by Bennie and Hercik, a sacrifice fly by Walewski and an RBI single by Rishel made it 4-0 in the third.

The Warriors sent eight batters to the plate in the sixth, scoring three runs on three hits, a fielders choice and a sacrifice fly, including an RBI single by Crookham and a sacrifice fly by Young for a 7-1 advantage.

Mansfield plated its first run in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of two ESU errors but leaving the bases loaded after junior Ben Bortz relieved senior Brandon Holup (3.2 IP, 1 unearned run, 5 hits, 2 strikeouts, 3 walks) and struck out No. 3 hitter Zephan Kash to end the rally.

Bortz blanked Mansfield in the fifth and sixth before Mansfield had two hits and four walks - including five two-out baserunners - before Woodley (0.1 IP, 1 walk) got a strikeout with the winning run at the plate to end it.

Bennie (2-for-4, double), Rishel (2-for-3) and Saverio (2-for-4) accounted for six of ESU's 10 hits in the game.

Scott Rockwell was 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead Mansfield.
