ERIE - Thom Derks scored a pair of first-half goals to lead Mercyhurst to a 3-1 weather-shortened win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday afternoon.

Derks scored in the 24th and 34th minutes and Connor Wilkinson scored in the 64th minute for Mercyhurst (3-2-1, 2-1), the four-time defending PSAC regular season champions.

Sophomore forward Brandon Levano scored in his third straight game for ESU (1-3-1, 1-2-1), tallying in the 74th minute before a lengthy lightning delay.

After a brief resumption of play, the game was officially called with 14:30 remaining on the clock (75:30 into the game).

Mercyhurst held an 11-6 advantage in shots and Alex Brems made two saves for the Lakers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Will Boerema made three saves for ESU.

Levano converted penalty kicks in both of ESU's last two games, a 2-0 win at Pitt-Johnstown last Saturday and a 3-3 (2OT) tie vs. PSAC preseason favorite Millersville on Tuesday.

The Warriors are back on the road Monday at Goldey-Beacom (4 p.m.) before hosting Shepherd on Thursday and Lock Haven in a PSAC game on Saturday in a three-game week.
