GREENSBURG, Pa. – Senior back

The Warriors (10-3-1, 7-3 PSAC), who clinched their first PSAC postseason appearance since 2010 through the results of other games on Wednesday, improved their seeding position with today's win. With 21 points, they are now tied with Mercyhurst (11-4, 7-2 PSAC) for fourth place in the conference standings, with the two teams set to meet at Eiler-Martin Stadium next Saturday.
Gannon is one point ahead with 22 points in third place. The Griffins (8-8-1, 5-5 PSAC) are locked into the No. 6 seed with the loss.
ESU picked up its third-consecutive clean sheet, with the Warriors outscoring Pitt-Johnstown, Bloomsburg and Seton Hill by an 11-0 margin during that stretch. Junior
Will Boerema has been in goal for all three of those contests; he only needed to make one save today to secure his eighth career individual shutout.
ESU controlled possession for a majority of the first half and headed into the intermission with a 7-3 edge in shots, but neither side was able to find a goal early on. Both teams did, however, have attempts go off the post. Sophomore forward
Lata Petros was denied by Seton Hill goalie Austin Iddon in the 25th minute, as Iddon dove to tip his long-range effort off the post and out.
Senior back
Shaquille Stephenson then prevented a Griffin marker in the 35th minute, as he sent a clearance on the goal line off the post and away from danger.
McMahon broke the deadlock 3:49 into the second half. Senior midfielder
Christian Bukowski directed a pass towards the center of the box from the left side, and McMahon blasted the free ball past Iddon for his fourth goal of the season.
Under three minutes later, Enowbi doubled the advantage. Junior midfielder
Jo Panuccio flicked the ball towards goal from the center line, and Enowbi chipped a shot over a charging Iddon to secure his team-leading seventh marker of 2017. Honored as the PSAC Athlete of the Week last Monday, Enowbi has five goals in ESU's last six games.
Two more Warriors got on to the scoresheet to round out the scoring in the 74th minute. Sophomore forward
Marcus Torgersson sent a cross from the left side which was calmly tapped in by Tolley on the line. Tolley is tied for fourth on the team with nine points (3 G, 3 A) in his debut season.
The final shots total was 14-10 in favor of ESU, and the Warriors led 7-1 in shots on goal.
ESU has won seven of its last eight games overall. The Warriors return to action on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Note:
ESU reached the championship game in its last PSAC postseason tournament appearance in 2010, with the Warriors falling in penalty kicks to Shippensburg after a 1-1 draw. ESU has 19 career PSAC titles, a total which ranks second behind Lock Haven (20) for the most all-time.
