EAST STROUDSBURG – A long opponent scoreless streak came to an end, but that proved to be a minor bump in the road for East Stroudsburg University on Saturday.

Junior forward Eddy Enowbi and sophomore forward Lata Petros scored in the first half, and senior midfielder Christian Bukowski added an insurance tally midway through the second half, as ESU erased an early deficit to hand Mercyhurst a 3-1 defeat on Senior Day at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Lakers (12-5, 8-3 PSAC) opened up the scoring 12:14 in to halt the Warriors' shutout streak at 4:37.08, a run which dated back six games to October 10. ESU, though, kept the visitors off the scoreboard the rest of the way to guarantee a home game in the first round of the PSAC tournament.

The Warriors (12-3-1, 8-3 PSAC) upped their winning streak to six games, which is the longest run for the program since 2008. They will be the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, with their opponent to be determined by the outcome of the Millersville/Gannon matchup which takes place later this afternoon. (UPDATE: ESU will be the No. 4 seed. The Warriors will host No. 5 Mercyhurst in a rematch of today's matchup at 3 p.m. on Tuesday)

Mercyhurst's Chris Lund netted the game's first goal, as he took a cross from Alex Garcia Piles and tucked a shot into the lower left corner.

Enowbi responded for the home side less than four minutes later, pounding a shot from the center of the box past Laker goalie Alex Brems for his team-leading eighth marker of the year. Bukowski added his third assist of the season on the play.

By the 30th minute, the Warriors were in front, as sophomore forward Marcus Torgersson sent a cross from the right side which turned into a tap-in for Petros in front.

Three ESU players teamed up for the final tally. Enowbi led Torgersson in down the right side, and he delivered another strong ball towards the goal which Bukowski was able to direct into an open net just under 20 minutes into the second half.

Bukowski (1 G, 1 A) totaled a season-high three points for the Warriors. That upped his career total to 57 points (19 G, 19 A), which is easily the highest figure among active players. Bukowski and fellow seniors Cory Binagia, Shaquille Stephenson, Danny Munar, Keelby Espinola and James McMahon took part in the final regular season home game of their collegiate careers.

Enowbi also added three points in the win, upping his team-best total to 18 (8 G, 2 A) on the year. Torgersson, meanwhile, registered a pair of assists for the second time in his ESU career.

The Lakers, who have won three of the past five PSAC championships, saw a five game winning streak come to an end. The Warriors picked up their first victory in the series since a 3-1 triumph in 2011.

Shots for the contest ended up 14-12 in favor of Mercyhurst. Junior Will Boerema made a season-high five saves in goal to help secure the victory.

ESU can now look ahead to its first PSAC tournament appearance since 2010. The winners of Tuesday's two first round games will travel to top-seeded West Chester this weekend. Semifinal matchups will take place on Friday, while the 2017 PSAC men's soccer championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
