EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior midfielder
Brandon Levano netted his first two goals of the season, and junior forward
Eddy Enowbi scored the go-ahead strike in the 63rd minute as East Stroudsburg University bested Lock Haven by a 3-1 final at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors (6-2-1, 4-2 PSAC) earned their third straight victory and their fifth win in the last six contests overall. The Bald Eagles (6-3-3, 3-2-1 PSAC) fell after defeating nationally-ranked opponents in each of their previous two games.
ESU has had contributions from the whole roster throughout the season for its scoring, and with his penalty kick conversion in the 22nd minute Levano became the 14th different player to register at least one goal on the year. That marker canceled out an early goal by Lock Haven's Beckham Sibiski on the first shot of the game 6:10 into the half.
The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the intermission, though the Warriors controlled the run of play with an 8-3 edge in shots and a 4-0 margin in corner kicks.
Freshman forward
Anton Lysell set up Enowbi for the go-ahead strike midway through the second half. Enowbi maneuvered around a Bald Eagle defender and used a sliding kick to beat charging goalkeeper Troy Teresak. The goal was his third of the season, while Lysell recorded his first collegiate assist.
Levano doubled the advantage 10 minutes later, cutting around a defender at the top of the box and blasting a shot into the left-hand corner to make it 3-1.
ESU's defense locked down the Bald Eagles the rest of the way, holding the visitors without a shot over the last 25 minutes of regulation. The Warriors ended the night with a 16-8 edge in shots, led by three apiece from Enowbi and Levano. Junior
Will Boerema made two saves to earn the win in goal.
Lock Haven entered having defeated No. 9 Millersville (1-0) and No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan (1-0) in its past two contests.
ESU returns to action at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the Warriors traveling to Gannon for a road PSAC matchup.
