EAST STROUDSBURG - Mical-Ryan Boyd hit a jumper with 3.9 seconds left, lifting Saint Rose to an 80-78 win at East Stroudsburg University in non-conference men's basketball on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Saint Rose (9-3), the NCAA Division II East Region runner-up last season, weathered a 14-0 ESU run midway through the second half and Boyd hit the game-winner after ESU freshman guard Marc Rodriguez tied the game with a three-pointer with 16.0 seconds remaining.

Redshirt senior forward Steve Harris had 19 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the field, including his second career three-pointer, and added seven rebounds and four steals for ESU. Sophomore forward Kobi Nwandu had 16 points and a career-high eight rebounds with three steals, and junior guard Nick Giordano had 14 points and five assists.

Shane Herrity scored 21 points, Boyd had 20 and Matt Cerutti and Julian Lipinski both had double-doubles with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Saint Rose, which entered as the top defensive team (62.5 ppg) in the 15-member Northeast-10 Conference. Lipinski had five of Saint Rose's nine blocked shots.

ESU, averaging 100.6 points per game and a +8.9 turnover differential entering the night, had a 21-13 margin in turnovers and 13 steals, but Saint Rose managed to hit 30-for-55 (54.5 percent) from the floor and 15-for-19 at the foul line.

The Warriors shot 26-for-65 (40.0 percent), 8-for-28 from three and 18-for-28 at the line, with a 38-36 rebounding advantage.

Saint Rose led 41-38 at halftime, outscoring the Warriors 10-2 down the stretch, before Giordano scored four points in the final 11 seconds to get ESU within three at the break.

ESU trailed 55-50 with 15:25 left before embarking on its 14-0 run, which included two three's by Rodriguez (9 points) and four turnovers by Saint Rose, to lead 64-55 at the 10:28 mark.

The Golden Knights closed the margin to one (66-65) with 6:32 remaining on a layup by Boyd. Herrity scored 13 of his 21 points in the final 10 minutes, and tied it at 70-all on a three-point play with 5:30 left.

Saint Rose took a 74-72 lead on a dunk by Boyd before ESU knotted it at 74-all on a layup by Nwandu, assisted by senior guard Ryan Krawczeniuk, with just under 150 seconds remaining.

Boyd put Saint Rose back in front on its next trip, Nwandu made 1-for-2 at the line to get ESU within one, and after Boyd missed two free throws, Herrity made a pair for a 78-75 lead with 48 seconds left.

ESU missed a pair of three's but got a turnover and an offensive rebound to set up Rodriguez's game-tying triple, but Boyd scored at the other end to win it.

Harris entered second in the PSAC in field goal percentage (66.2) and increased his season mark to 69.2 percent with his 9-for-10 performance.

Redshirt junior guard Jakwan Jones, second in the PSAC in assists (6.3), had six of ESU's 20.

Tuesday's game was the second-ever meeting between ESU and Saint Rose, with the Warriors winning 94-86 in Albany in the third game of the season two years ago.

Saint Rose, under 32nd-year head coach Brian Beaury (631 wins), has made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1992, including three East Region titles.

ESU has made four NCAA Tournaments in the last eight years under 16th-year head coach Jeff Wilson (278 wins).

The Warriors suffered just their fourth home non-conference loss since 2009-10, falling to 38-4 in such games and 99-23 at Koehler Fieldhouse in that span.

ESU is off for 11 days before hosting Mansfield in PSAC East action on Saturday, December 30.
