EAST STROUDSBURG - Redshirt senior forward Steve Harris had 16 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, and East Stroudsburg University scored 56 points in the second half to post an 88-63 win over Mansfield in PSAC East men's basketball on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU (8-2, 5-1), the PSAC leader and third in NCAA Division II with 98.1 points per game, closed the first half on a 13-5 run to open a 32-22 halftime lead, then outscored Mansfield by 15 in the second half including key stretches of 7-0 and 11-2.

ESU is a game behind West Chester (10-0, 6-0) for the PSAC East lead as the conference passes the quarter pole of its 22-game schedule.

Harris had his 11th career double-double and was 8-for-10 from the field to lift his PSAC-best field goal percentage to 70.5.

Sophomore forward Kobi Nwandu scored 12 points, including 4-for-5 from the field, and junior guard Nick Giordano and freshman guard Marc Rodriguez had 11 points each for the Warriors.

Harris scored 11 in the second half and Nwandu, Giordano and Rodriguez all had eight each in the period.

Sophomore guard Montrel Morgan added nine points, junior guard Kitt Najee Walls had seven points and seven assists, senior forward Ralik Wise scored six points and senior guard Ryan Krawczeniuk and redshirt junior forward Josh Williams both had five points.

Walls became the ninth ESU player with at 300 career assists, finishing the afternoon with 303. He entered ESU's career top 10 earlier this season.

Redshirt junior guard Jakwan Jones, second in the PSAC with 6.2 assists per game following the break, had four assists and four of ESU's 10 steals.

The Warriors shot 50.0 percent from the field (32-for-64) and 40.0 percent from the three-point line (10-for-25), with Giordano going 3-for-5 and Rodriguez 3-for-6.

Harris led a rebounding effort that posted a +12 margin (40-28) on the glass, and ESU had a +3 margin in turnovers (19-16) after ranking first in DII in turnovers forced (24.0) and second in turnover margin (+8.8) entering the week.

ESU also paces DII in assists per game (22.2) and had 22 against Mansfield, with Walls and Jones combining to contribute half.

Jeremiah Worthem had 20 points and eight rebounds and Malik Carter added 11 points for Mansfield (4-5, 3-3), which led for a stretch early in the first half and trailed just 19-17 at the 4:30 mark before the Warriors pushed their advantage in double figures at intermission.

Mansfield shot 45.1 percent (23-for-51) but was 0-for-8 from long distance.

After ESU led 32-22 at halftime, Mansfield pulled back within four and trailed 37-32 when the Warriors scored seven straight, including a three by Nwandu, to go in front by a dozen.

ESU led by double figures the rest of the way and made it a 20-point game (68-48) with 7:30 left following an 11-2 run.

ESU improves to 100-23 at Koehler Fieldhouse since the start of the 2009-10 season, including 62-19 in games that count in the PSAC standings.

The Warriors host defending PSAC champion Shippensburg (8-2, 4-1) in a PSAC East match-up on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Raiders have won five straight and were postponed on Saturday at Erie due to winter weather. Ship was 27-4 last year, reaching the NCAA DII Atlantic Region semifinals, including three wins over ESU.
