HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Redshirt senior Conner Crookham allowed one run in 5.0 innings in his first career start, pitching East Stroudsburg University to a 3-1 win over Post in the Warriors' first game on Sunday in North Carolina.

ESU (2-2) fell to Le Moyne, 9-6, in the nightcap to finish the opening weekend of the season. The Warriors posted two wins over Post (16-7, 3-1) and fell twice to Le Moyne (7-4, 9-6), playing each team once on Saturday and once on Sunday.

Crookham, a first team preseason All-America selection at shortstop, scattered three hits and struck out two. He made three relief appearances in both 2015 and 2016, throwing a total of 5.1 innings while posting an exceptional career hitting line of .384/.457/.700 in his first two seasons.

Senior right-hander Ben Bortz pitched the eighth and ninth to earn his first career save (4 strikeouts, 1 hit, 1 walk). Crookham's brother Chris, a redshirt freshman, threw the sixth and seventh (2 strikeouts, 2 hits).

Redshirt senior OF Casey Saverio had two doubles and redshirt senior 1B Dylan Tamecki was two hits and two RBI.

ESU opened the scoring in the top of the first as senior OF Ian Allen was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Tamecki.

In the fourth, Saverio hit a one-out double, stole third and scored on an RBI single by junior 2B Laine Renaud.

The Warriors made it 3-0 in the fifth as redshirt senior 2B Jay Young walked, Allen singled and Young scored on Tamecki's RBI groundout.

Post got one run back in the bottom of the fifth, but Crookham stranded two runners to get out of the frame and the bullpen threw four straight scoreless frames to seal the win.

In the second game of the day vs. Le Moyne, the Dolphins' Nick Place was 5-for-5 with three doubles and scored four runs.

Young, Renaud and redshirt sophomore C Mike Sulcoski had two hits each for the Warriors. Young and Renaud both belted triples, and Sulcoski had a double for ESU's three extra-base hits.

Young tripled and scored on a passed ball and Allen walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch to give ESU a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Le Moyne scored three in the second and twice in the third for a 5-2 lead. Allen walked and scored on a two-out RBI triple in the bottom half to make it 5-3.

The Warriors cut the deficit to 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth as redshirt freshman 1B Tom Nuneviller singled and moved to third on a throwing error, and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman SS Joey Paolini.

ESU added single runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Sulcoski, and the ninth when Young and Allen walked, Tamecki singled and Young scored on a throwing error. The Warriors got the tying run to the plate but stranded two in the final inning.

Five Warriors took the mound with freshman Connor Johnson making his first career start.
