DINWIDDIE, Va. - Redshirt senior Conner Crookham and freshman Connor Johnson combined for a one-hitter in a 3-1 win in the opener, and East Stroudsburg University belted three home runs in the sixth inning of a 10-4 win in game two as the Warriors swept a Saturday doubleheader vs. Pitt-Johnstown and posted a 3-1 weekend series victory.

ESU (10-6), ranked No. 5 in last week's NCBWA Division II Atlantic Region poll, won Friday's opener 7-3 before falling 9-3 in the nightcap. UPJ (9-10) entered the week No. 10 in the region with an 8-7 record before the Warriors took three of four.

Freshman SS Joey Paolini provided a two-run home run in a three-run second inning that deposited all of the Warriors' runs in the opener.

In game two, ESU trailed 3-0 going to the bottom of the fourth, but got two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth. Senior OF Ian Allen, junior 3B Laine Renaud and redshirt freshman OF Tom Nuneviller all homered in the fifth inning.

Redshirt freshman right-hander Chris Crookham picked up the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless, hitless relief. He struck out three and walked two.

Allen's homer was his team-leading fifth of the season and the 15th of his career, becoming the eighth player in school history with at least 15 home runs.

Renaud's homer was his first at ESU, and Nuneviller had his second career homer.

UPJ scored its only run and collected its only hit in the top of the first. Evan Appleby reached on an error to open the game, Jack Shirk singled and Appleby eventually scored on a fielders choice to put the Warriors down 1-0.

All three of ESU's run in the second were scored with two outs. Junior C Steven Zimmerman, Jr. walked and Renaud singled to start the inning. Zimmerman moved to third on a fly ball and scored on a wild pitch, and Paolini clubbed a two-run homer - his second long ball in as many days - for a 3-1 lead.

ESU was held to just three hits, with Tamecki notching a single in the third inning. Neither team did much to threaten over the final five frames.

UPJ starter Trentin Martin went 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Conner Crookham improved to 2-0 in his third start of the season, and Johnson notched his first career save.
