BLOOMSBURG - Redshirt senior
Ben Stine fired a complete game with 12 strikeouts in a 4-1 win in the nightcap as East Stroudsburg University split a PSAC East baseball doubleheader at Bloomsburg on Monday afternoon.
ESU (12-11-1, 2-5-1) takes the four-game series vs. Bloomsburg, 2-1-1, following a 5-3 win on a three-run walk-off homer by senior OF
Ian Allen and a 6-6 tie due to darkness last Thursday at Mitterling Field.
Bloomsburg (13-11-1, 3-4-1) won Monday's opener, 12-6.
Stine threw his first career complete game and set a career-high with his 12 strikeouts. He fanned multiple batters in each of the last four innings and allowed Bloomsburg's only run in the second inning.

Jay Young was 5-for-7 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base in the leadoff spot to pace ESU in the twinbill. He was one of five Warriors with multiple hits in the opener, as ESU had 15 hits in the loss.

Laine Renaud hit back-to-back, two-out home runs in the fifth inning of the nightcap to give Stine some breathing room after ESU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
GAME 1 - L 12-6
Bloomsburg leadoff hitter Austin Edgette was 4-for-4 with six RBI and three runs, including a grand slam, as BU led 9-3 through three innings and added three more runs in the fifth.

Casey Saverio all had two hits for ESU.
ESU answered a BU run in the bottom of the first with one in the top of the second as freshman OF
Carson Freeman doubled, Saverio singled and Freeman scored on an RBI groundout by freshman SS
Joey Paolini.
Edgette's grand slam gave the Huskies a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the second.
Saverio hit a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the third before BU scored four more in the bottom half.
The Warriors also got a two-out, two-run double by Tameck in the fifth and an RBI single by freshman OF
Evan Steele in the sixth.
Trey Hinkle earned the win for Bloomsburg (4.1 IP, 5 runs, 3 earned, 12 hits, 8 strikeouts, 3 walks) and Brett Alaimo got the final seven outs for the save.

GAME 2 - W 4-1
Stine's impressive outing gave ESU the series win, backed by an offense that collected 14 baserunners.
The first three Warriors reached safely - Young and Saverio walked and Allen singled - followed by an RBI fielders choice by Tamecki and a sacrifice fly by Zimmerman that gave ESU a 2-0 lead.
Bloomsburg got a run on a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly in the second, but Stine made the 2-1 lead hold up until the fifth.
Stine retired nine straight at one point, with a 1-2-3 third and a 1-2-3 fourth with two strikeouts.
In ESU's fifth, Zimmerman homered to left and Renaud went deep to center to extend the Warriors' lead to 4-1.
Stine struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth, getting the first two before a single by Nate Krizan and double by Edgette gave BU runners on second and third before Stine whiffed Tyler Benson to end the threat.
Stine tossed a 1-2-3 sixth with two more strikeouts, and pitched around a leadoff walk and one-out single in the seventh that brought the tying run to the plate. Krizan flied out for the second out, and Stine got Edgette swinging to end the game.
Zimmerman's home run was his third of the season and the 12th of his career. He homered in the sixth inning of ESU's 5-3 win vs. Bloomsburg in the series opener on Thursday.
Renaud's homer was the second of his first season at ESU.
Seven Warriors had multiple hits on the afternoon led by Young (5-for-7, 2 walks, stolen base). Tamecki was 4-for-8 with a walk, double and three RBI, Zimmerman went 3-for-7 with a homer, hit by pitch, two RBI and a run, Allen was 3-for-8 with a hit by pitch, run and two stolen bases and Renaud was 3-for-9 with a homer, RBI and two runs.
Saverio (2-for-6, HR, 2 walks, 2 RBI, 2 runs) reached four times and Freeman (2-for-7, 2 doubles, 2 runs) had two extra base hits.
