WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Colin Hester scored a pair of goals, one in each half, to lead West Chester to a 2-0 victory over East Stroudsburg University in the PSAC opener for both teams on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (2-1-1) held a 16-5 advantage in shots overall. Junior goalkeeper
Will Boerema made four saves, all in the opening 45 minutes, for the Warriors (1-1-1).
Hester opened the scoring in the 44th minute, as he flicked a throw-in from Andrew Slater past Boerema with 1:08 remaining in the first half. Hester's second strike came with just under 15 minutes left in regulation.
This is only the fourth time in the past 15 meetings that the two teams have been separated by more than a single goal.
Four of ESU's five shots were directed on goal, but all were stopped by West Chester goalkeeper Matt Palmer.
The Warriors return to Eiler-Martin Stadium for their next contest, as they will take on Shepherd in a non-conference tilt at 5 p.m. next Tuesday.
