Three of Boerema's saves came in the opening half hour to keep the game scoreless early on. Stephenson's marker, his second of the season and his third overall at ESU, came off a free kick from Espinola 30:06 into the contest. Espinola, who has started all 55 games in his collegiate career on the Warrior backline, picked up his sixth career point with the helper.
Shots ended up 6-6 in the first half. ESU doubled its advantage less than two minutes after the intermission, as Levano sent a cross into the box which Bukowski deposited into the top left corner for his first goal of the year. The 2016 first team D2CCA All-Atlantic Region and first team All-PSAC performer now has 17 goals during his three-plus seasons at ESU.
Panuccio rounded out the scoring in the 84th minute, taking a cross from Torgersson and beating Vulcan goalie Lucas Exner for his first goal as a Warrior.
ESU earned its first victory at California since the 2008 season. The Warriors, who blanked Shepherd by a 6-0 final on Tuesday, have recorded back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since 2012.
Eric Campbell had a team-high three shots for the Vulcans (0-5, 0-1 PSAC). ESU outshot the home side by a 7-3 margin in the final 45 minutes to end the contest with a 13-9 edge overall.
The Warriors return to Eiler-Martin Stadium on Sunday afternoon, hosting No. 15 Millersville (5-0-1, 1-0 PSAC) at 4:30 p.m.
Note:
Former men's soccer standouts Mike D'Alessio '73 and Jorge Chapoy '03 were among a group of 10 individuals and one team inducted into the ESU Athletics Hall of Fame at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort on Friday night.
D'Alessio was an NSCAA All-America selection at back as a senior, and ESU reached the NCAA Division I tournament in each of his two seasons with the program. Chapoy was a first team All-America honoree as a senior, and he was also a four-time All-Region and four-time first team All-PSAC performer. Chapoy ranks second in PSAC history in career goals (71), third in points (178) and tied for third in assists (36).
