EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University opened the second half with a 16-2 run and outscored Bloomsburg 64-39 over the final 20 minutes, posting a runaway 98-62 win in PSAC East men's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Redshirt senior forward Steve Harris had 11 points and 13 rebounds for his 12th career double-double, and redshirt junior forward Josh Williams had a career-high 19 points to lead five double-figure scorers for ESU.

The Warriors (11-3, 8-2), coming off an impressive 85-82 win at PSAC West leader IUP on Wednesday, led throughout - opening the game with a 17-2 run before ultimately leading 34-23 at intermission.

The second half was more of the same, as ESU led 50-25 at the 15-minute mark and the Huskies were never closer than 21 the rest of the way.

The Warriors travel to West Chester (14-1, 10-1), the PSAC East leader, on Wednesday. WCU won its first 13 before being knocked off by Bloomsburg, 98-90, on Monday.

Bloomsburg (9-6, 5-6) had won three straight, averaging 101.0 ppg, but ran into ESU's turnover-creating defense which is currently the best in NCAA Division II.

The Warriors forced 24 turnovers (lead DII at 23.4), had 16 steals (lead DII at 13.0) and were +15 in turnover margin (rank 2nd at +8.8). They had a 28-16 margin and 16 steals on Wednesday at IUP.

ESU also held Bloomsburg to 33.3 percent (21-for-63) from the field, a season-low for an ESU opponent, and 4-for-17 from the three-point line.

Bloomsburg senior Christian Mortellite, the top active scorer in the PSAC (1,804 career points) entering the contest who was averaging 22.9 per game this winter, was 4-for-11 for 11 points.

Kyle-Michael Rose had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four of Bloomsburg's 11 blocks to lead the Huskies.

ESU's +15 turnover margin (24-9) and +15 rebounding margin (57-42) led to a +28 advantage in shot attempts - the Warriors were 40-for-91 overall, and 10-for-31 from long distance.

ESU finished two points shy of a sixth 100-point game this season. The Warriors, the PSAC leader and in the top five in DII in scoring (94.7 ppg), have hit at least 90 in nine of their 14 games.

Along with Williams' 19 points (8-for-9 fg, 2-for-2 from 3) and Harris' 11 points, junior guard Nick Giordano scored 14, sophomore forward Kobi Nwandu had 12 and senior guard Ryan Krawczeniuk scored 10.

Sophomore guard Montrel Morgan had eight points and senior forward Ralik Wise and junior guard Kitt Najee Walls had seven each.

Redshirt junior guard Jakwan Jones scored ESU's first five points of the 17-2 run to open the game - his only points of the contest, to go with five of ESU's 22 assists.

The Warriors improve to 102-23 at Koehler Fieldhouse since the start of the 2009-10 season, including 64-19 (.771) in games that count in the PSAC standings. ESU is 48-10 (.826) at Koehler in such games since 2012-13.
