EAST STROUDSBURG – Jayci Suseland totaled 14 kills, while Lindsey Blevins added 13 kills and 13 digs for Millersville in a 3-0 victory over East Stroudsburg University at Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday. Set scores were 25-23, 25-14, 25-23.
The Marauders (10-9, 5-5 PSAC) became the first team to sweep the Warriors (17-5, 7-3 PSAC) all season. ESU, though, remains a game ahead of West Chester in the PSAC Southeast standings after the Golden Rams were upset 3-1 at Kutztown.
The Warriors and West Chester (17-5, 6-4) will square off at Koehler Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. on Saturday in their first meeting of the 2018 season.
Junior
Sarah Smith was the lone ESU player to reach double-digit kills on Friday, as she totaled 14 kills (.278 attack percentage) to go along with eight digs. Junior
Jasmine Williams added five kills with a .400 attack percentage, and both she and freshman
Kailyn Pyle recorded a team-high five blocks.
The Warriors hit under 10 percent in each of the first two sets. They led 19-15 in the opening frame, but Millersville jumped in front with an 8-1 run, and a Suseland kill wrapped up the set shortly afterwards.
The Marauders never trailed in the second set, and they recovered from an early 4-1 deficit in the third to ultimately complete the sweep.
Freshman
Emily Meredith registered a team-high 12 digs for ESU. She has now reached double figures in 17 consecutive matches.
