EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior Jules Sicker scored the game's only goal in the 33rd minute, and freshman Mauri Jackson had six saves for her sixth shutout in eight starts as East Stroudsburg University blanked Gannon, 1-0, in PSAC women's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Sicker's goal, her fourth of the season and the 12th of her career, was assisted by junior Monica Wood as ESU (8-3-1, 8-2-1), the four-time defending PSAC champion, won for the seventh time in eight games after conceding two second-half goals in a 2-1 loss at Lock Haven on Wednesday.

Jackson improved to 7-1 in her eight starts, yielding just three goals in more than 730 minutes while notching 36 saves.

Gannon (4-5-2, 3-5-2) held a 15-11 edge in shots, and both teams had six shots on goal.  Their best chance was three minutes into the second half, when Vanessa Coccurello hit the post and Kayla Bevacqua's rebound chance from 12 yards out was blocked.

Hannah Pufpaff made five saves for the visitors, who are 1-5-2 after a 3-0 start to the season.

ESU is at Pitt-Johnstown on Friday and hosts Bloomsburg on Sunday in its two games next weekend, as just five regular games remain before the postseason.
