Sarah Smith totaled 18 kills and 20 digs, while juniors
Sam Dunphy and
Becca Huddleston had 12 kills apiece in a 3-1 victory for East Stroudsburg University at Bloomsburg on Saturday.
Junior
Jasmine Williams added 10 kills with a .588 attack percentage for the Warriors (17-4, 7-2 PSAC) in their first ever meeting against the Huskies (5-13, 1-8 PSAC). Set scores were 17-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-17.
Bloomsburg, in the midst of its first season as a program, hit over 20 percent in a strong opening set. ESU, though, got progressively stronger as the night wore on, with its team hitting percentage rising from .118 to .237 to .310 to .412 across the four sets.
Huddleston, seeing her most extensive action of the season, reached double-digit kills for the first time. She supplied the deciding kill for the visitors in the second set, and finished with a hitting percentage of .286.
The double-doubles continued to pile up for Smith, who now has 12 this season and nine in the past 11 contests. She has recorded 10+ kills in all but three matches on the year. Dunphy, meanwhile, registered her third career double-double in the win.
Senior
Tina Predojevic added 43 assists and 14 digs, while freshman
Emily Meredith chipped in 16 digs defensively.
The Warriors out-blocked Bloomsburg by an 8-3 margin, winning the battle at the net for a 19th time in 21 matches.
ESU returns to Koehler Fieldhouse next weekend, hosting Millersville at 7 p.m. on Friday and West Chester at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a pair of big PSAC Southeast division matchups. The Warriors remain a game ahead of West Chester for first place in the division after the Golden Rams (17-3, 6-3) edged Pitt-Johnstown in five sets this afternoon.
