EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior Josh Williams and senior Nick Giordano totaled 13 points apiece, leading four East Stroudsburg University players in double figures during a 74-58 home victory over Queens (NY) on Monday night.

Redshirt senior Jakwan Jones chipped in 12 points, five assists and four steals, while freshman Ryan Smith had 10 points for the Warriors (3-2) who earned a third-consecutive victory and kept the Knights (0-6) winless on the year. ESU forced 28 turnovers and had a 33-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

Williams, recognized as the PSAC East Athlete of the Week earlier this afternoon, added a game-high 10 rebounds to record his third double-double in the past four games. With his four thefts, Jones now ranks sixth all-time in ESU history with 149 career steals.

The Warriors never trailed, as a Williams layup capped a 10-0 run by the home side to begin the contest. ESU was up 42-26 at the intermission, and led by as many as 26 points midway through the second half before Queens' reserves reduced the final margin in the closing minutes.

ESU, which led Division II in steals per game last season (11.5) had 17 steals in tonight's victory. Jones led the way with four, while Williams, Giordano, redshirt sophomore Troy Jones, redshirt freshman Mike Millsip, freshman Shamir Johnson and junior Michael Weiss had two apiece.

Troy Jones contributed nine points in his first collegiate start. Millsip, meanwhile, totaled seven points and a career-high eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.

The Warriors had a 42-26 advantage in the paint, with Williams and Smith leading the way inside. Smith's 10 points came on 5 of 7 shooting from the floor, including a thunderous dunk which gave ESU a 48-28 lead early in the second half.

Giordano's 13 points included a trio of 3-pointers. He now has 154 in his ESU career, a total which is tied with Jamal Nwanimeka (2013-16) for fifth in team history.

The Warriors remain at home for their next two contests. The defending PSAC champions open up conference play on Saturday afternoon, hosting Mercyhurst in a matchup scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Note:

Warrior head coach Jeff Wilson, who earned his 300th career victory last Tuesday, was presented with an honorary game ball by ESU Director of Athletics Dr. Gary Gray in a pregame ceremony. Wilson is now 301-165 (.645 winning percentage) in his 16+ seasons leading his alma mater.
