EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior Josh Williams totaled 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, leading four East Stroudsburg University players in double figures during an 82-66 home victory over Slippery Rock on Monday evening.

Williams hit 8 of 11 shots from the field while recording his fourth double-double in the past six contests. The Warriors (5-2, 2-0 PSAC) won their fifth consecutive game, with each victory during that span by at least 16 points.

Redshirt senior Jakwan Jones added 15 points and seven assists, senior Nick Giordano supplied 13 points and junior Michal Weiss had 12 points and six rebounds for ESU.

The Warriors outscored the Rock (2-5, 0-1 PSAC) by a 46-32 margin in the paint, and they scored 22 points off 26 turnovers by the visitors.

ESU trailed only once in the game, at 17-16 just over seven minutes into the contest. A Giordano layup put the home side back in front shortly afterwards, and the Warriors led by as many as 12 points in the first half before ultimately taking a 39-29 advantage into the intermission.

A tip-in by redshirt freshman Mike Millsip capped a 15-7 run by ESU over the first four and a half minutes of the second half which upped the lead to 18 points, and Slippery Rock never got closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Jones' 15 points were aided by a 9 for 10 effort from the free throw line; he is 19 for 20 at the charity stripe over the last two games, and has hit 89.5 percent (34-38) of his free throws overall on the year.

Williams' four blocks matched a career-high, while Weiss hit all five of his field goal attempts inside.

Slippery Rock's Micah Till, a first team All-PSAC West selection in 2017-18, entered today averaging 23.3 points per game this season, but the Warrior defense held him to just seven points to help secure the win (1-5 FG, 5-5 FT). John Warren II had a team-high 13 points for the visitors.

ESU now hits the road for its next six contests, beginning with a 3 p.m. tilt at Edinboro next Saturday. The Warriors will not return to Koehler Fieldhouse until Wednesday, January 9.
