Box Score

MANSFIELD - Junior guard Nick Giordano scored a career-high 24 points, including five three-pointers, and redshirt senior forward Steve Harris had 11 points and 10 rebounds for his 15th career double-double, leading East Stroudsburg University to an 82-67 win at Mansfield in PSAC East men's basketball on Saturday at Decker Gymnasium.

Senior forward Ralik Wise and freshman guard Marc Rodriguez also had 11 points each for ESU (15-5, 12-4), which rebounded after an 89-64 loss at No. 23 Shippensburg on Wednesday and moved into a tied for second in the loss column in the PSAC East.

Matt Tamanosky scored 20 points and Malik Carter had 19 for Mansfield (6-14, 5-12), which has won just two of its last 13 but had topped the Warriors in two of their last three trips to Decker. The Mounties fell 88-63 at ESU in the first meeting on December 30 at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Giordano scored 12 points in each half and surpassed his career-high of 20 points vs. Lock Haven late in his freshman season. He made five of ESU's 10 three-pointers, one off his career-best.

Harris had his second double-double of the season vs. Mansfield, dropping 16 points and 11 rebounds five weeks ago.

ESU led 40-28 at halftime, led by nine points and eight boards from Harris, then opened the second half on a 10-2 run - including a three-point play and a three-pointer by Giordano - to go up 50-30 three minutes in.

Mansfield cut the lead to nine on three occasions, the last at 63-54 with 6:41 left, but Rodriguez answered with the last of his three three-pointers and junior guard Kitt Najee Walls (8 points, 4 assist) and Giordano also hit three's in a span of 70 seconds to put the Warriors in front 72-57.

The Mounties scored the next five to get back within 10 before Wise scored seven of ESU's final nine points - a pair of layups and 3-for-4 from the line - to secure the victory.

Sophomore forward Kobi Nwandu (8 points, 5 rebounds) and Walls were both one bucket from giving ESU six double-figure scorers.

The Warriors had a 20-15 turnover advantage, shot 10-for-25 from long distance and 20-for-26 at the foul line. Mansfield, which shot 54.2 percent (26-for-48), was just 2-for-8 from three-point range and 13-for-22 at the line.

Mansfield played without Jeremiah Worthem (15.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg), who had 20 points and eight rebounds in the first meeting vs. ESU. Point guard Cedrick Powell had two points, two assists and seven of Mansfield's 20 turnovers.

Shippensburg (17-3, 13-2), which won its ninth straight with a 66-56 victory at Mercyhurst, leads West Chester (17-4, 13-4), ESU (15-5, 12-4) and Kutztown (15-5, 11-5) in the top four spots in the PSAC East. West Chester won 108-99 at Kutztown on Saturday.

ESU hosts Lock Haven (7-13, 5-11) on Wednesday, looking to avenge an 89-82 road loss on January 6, before a "bye" date next Saturday.
