Both ESU soccer teams were previously nationally-ranked at the same time in 2008 – on November 14, the women (coached by Berkowitz) won 4-0 vs. WV Wesleyan for the first NCAA Tournament win in program history, while the men (coached by
Jerry Sheska) fell 1-0 (OT) vs. Slippery Rock in the last of their 16 NCAA appearances in 29 years under Sheska.
ESU returns to action at home vs. Chestnut Hill on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the second of four non-conference games to open the season. The Warriors begin their PSAC slate vs. West Chester, unbeaten in 11 conference games last year, on September 12 at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
