ESU was competing in its final non-conference match of the regular season. The PSAC schedule begins at Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday night with a key contest against defending DII finalist Gannon, which is currently 11-0 and ranked No. 14 nationally. The Warriors knocked off the Golden Knights in four sets during last year's meeting at Gannon. Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Pace and ESU were tied at 13-13 in the first set, but the Setters won the next three points and maintained their lead from there. Pace then led 22-16 in Set 2 before the Warriors rattled off a 7-0 run on the serve of freshman
Anna Salasky to grab a brief advantage.
ESU had a set point at 25-24 following a block by Smith and redshirt sophomore
Trea-sure Ketter. Pace, though, won the next three points to claim a two set lead.
The Warriors never trailed during a dominant third set while holding the home side to a -.098 attack percentage. The Setters responded in the fourth, taking a 24-18 lead and then holding off a late ESU surge to clinch the match.
Smith's 19 kills were backed by a .271 attack percentage; she has hit over 25 percent in 10 of 12 matches on the year. Junior
Sam Dunphy added eight kills (.308%) and seven digs, surpassing 30 percent for a third time this season.
Senior
