Kelli Shapiro had two assists, leading No. 2-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 5-0 win over No. 9 LIU Post in non-conference field hockey on Wednesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
Ceschini's goal, ESU's second-fastest into a game in the last 15 years, was the first of three first-half goals for the Warriors (2-1), who split an opening weekend trip to New England, winning 3-2 at previously No. 9 Merrimack and falling 1-0 at No. 6 Stonehill, which moved into a share of the No. 2 spot in this week's NFHCA DII poll with ESU.
The Warriors outshot LIU Post (0-2), the defending DII runner-up, by an 18-1 margin - 9-1 in the first half, and 9-0 in the second half. The Pioneers fell 4-3 (OT) vs. unranked Bentley in their opener last Saturday.
Ceschini's opener, coming in her 42nd career start, was assisted by Shapiro off an early ESU penalty corner.
Quinn scored 8:47 into the first half, and senior midfielder
Paige Harrold made it 3-0 at the 22:32 mark.
In the second half, junior midfielder
Karly Conway scored from Shapiro, and Quinn converted a penalty stroke with just under 12 minutes left.
Quinn has three goals through three games, and 24 in 38 starts for the Warriors after earning second team All-America honors with 13 goals as a junior last season.
Harrold scored her 10th career goal, to go with 20 assists, in her third season as a starter. She had three goals and eight assists last fall.
Shapiro has three assists in three games after posting eight goals and three assists as a junior. Conway's goal was her third after scoring two as a sophomore.
Junior goalkeeper
Maddie Richie was not forced to make a save in posting her first career shutout.
Rachel Vellis had two saves for LIU Post after backstopping the Pioneers to their DII runner-up finish as a freshman.
LIU Post fell 4-1 to Shippensburg in the national title game last season, after Ship advanced with a 2-1 win over ESU.
The Warriors face Shippensburg, the two-time defending national champion, for the first of two meetings this season with a road trip next Wednesday. The Raiders (3-0), who last played on Sunday, will have 10 days off before hosting ESU. The second meeting will be October 3 in a PSAC match-up at Whitenight Field. The first game will not count towards the conference standings.
