Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman Mauri Jackson made a season-high nine saves in goal, and junior Jules Sicker provided the game-winning strike in the 52nd minute to lift East Stroudsburg University to a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Millersville on Sunday.

The Warriors (5-2-1, 5-1-1) won their fourth-straight game despite being outshot 25-6 by the Marauders (6-2, 5-2). The 25 shots allowed were the most allowed by ESU this season, and Jackson's nine saves were the most by a Warrior goalie since Jules Harris made 10 on Oct. 15, 2016 against Seton Hill.

Kay Liebl and Talia Grynkewicz had nine shots each for Millersville, which was coming off a 2-0 win over No. 20 Seton Hill on Friday.

Jackson made the first of her four saves in the opening half 15:20 into the contest, and the Marauders also had a shot by Delaney Meadows ring off the crossbar in the 29th minute. The home side had a 13-2 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes.

It was the Warriors, though, who broke through after the intermission. Sicker had an initial attempt saved by Erin Heimbach, but she recovered her own rebound and fired into the open net to put the visitors on the board.

Sicker now has three goals in ESU's past four games, with all three strikes turning out to be game-winners. She tied for the team lead with seven goals last fall, helping the Warriors claim their fourth-straight PSAC title.

Millersville had another shot hit off the crossbar in the 60th minute, and Jackson made four additional saves in the final half hour to secure the clean sheet. She has a 0.24 goals-against average, a .947 save percentage and 18 saves through her first five collegiate appearances, and she has recorded shutouts in three of her first four starts.

ESU improved to 25-5-1 lifetime against Millersville, including wins in each of the previous seven meetings.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Shippensburg in a PSAC matchup set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
