Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior Alex Pickett scored the game's lone goal less than five minutes into the second half, and East Stroudsburg University held Shippensburg to a single shot on target to claim a 1-0 victory at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday.

The Warriors (6-2-1, 6-1-1) registered their fifth straight victory, and they picked up their fourth clean sheet during that span. Freshman Mauri Jackson turned aside the only shot on goal for the Raiders (5-3, 4-3) with 1:51 left in the opening half.

Pickett entered with a team-high six assists on the year, and netted her first goal in the 50th minute. She took advantage of a giveaway by the visiting goalkeeper and blasted a shot into the open net. Pickett, who led the PSAC with 14 goals as a sophomore in 2016, now has 24 career strikes at ESU.

Sophomore Haley Skove had the best chance to double the Warrior advantage, as she fired a free kick off the crossbar in 68th minute. Shippensburg was held without a shot over the final 34 minutes of regulation. Shots overall were 19-6 in favor of ESU.

With the shutout, Jackson improved to 5-0 with a 0.19 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage in goal. The Warrior backline of junior Hannah Saggese, junior Syd Hicks, sophomore Erin Thuring, freshman Philippa Borjesson and freshman Hailee Reinhardt all played a role in limiting Shippensburg's chances on offense.

Today's win matches the Warriors' longest winning streak from 2017, when they went 15-4-4 and earned a fourth-consecutive PSAC title. ESU looks for a sixth victory in a row on Saturday, traveling to Slippery Rock for a 1 p.m. contest.
