EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior
Marina Zardet contributed to four victories, while junior
Aubrianna Stetina and senior
Lauren Morrissey won three matches each to lead East Stroudsburg University at the two-day Bloomsburg Invitational which concluded on Sunday.
The Warriors won 14 matches overall at the tournament, including a perfect 10-0 mark against fellow PSAC East member Shippensburg. ESU, Shippensburg, Bloomsburg and Wilkes were the four schools competing over the weekend.
Morrissey was the lone ESU player to earn a victory over Bloomsburg, as she topped Siena Cerra by a 6-2, 6-3 margin on Saturday. She added a singles win over Wilkes' Rachel Thomas (6-4, 6-2), and she teamed with freshman
Charity McLeod for an 8-1 victory over Shippensburg in doubles.
Zardet's two singles wins were against Wilkes' Dasha Yakhnis (6-3, 6-2) and Shippensburg's Kaylin Gallagher (6-1, 6-0). Paired with Stetina for her two doubles victories, they bested Shippensburg (8-1) and Wilkes (9-7).
Stetina's final victory was a 6-4, 6-3 singles win over Shippensburg. Other ESU singles triumphs over the Raiders came from sophomore
Quinn McCluskey (6-0, 6-0), sophomore
Amanda Jackson (7-6 (5), 6-2), McLeod (6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-8), and sophomore
Briana Young (6-1, 6-1).
Additional doubles victories against the Raiders were claimed by Jackson and McCluskey (8-1), and the tandem of Young and junior
Ivanna Pittman (8-0).
The Warriors are scheduled to return to action Tuesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. home matchup against Caldwell.
