WILMINGTON, Del. – The venue changed, but the result remained the same for East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday night.
Playing their first road match of the season, the Warriors cruised to a 3-0 victory at Goldey-Beacom. Set scores were 25-13, 25-16, 25-21. ESU (8-1) has won 8 of 9 matches to begin the year, and seven of their eight victories have been decided in three sets.
Freshman
Andrea Coyle led the offense with eight kills and a .278 attack percentage, while junior
Sarah Smith and freshman
Anna Salasky had six kills apiece. Salasky (.667%) was one of several Warriors to enter for the third set; that group combined for a .290 attack percentage, ESU's best output of the evening.
Senior
Tina Predojevic added 18 assists and four aces. Two of those aces came in a 6-0 run to start the match, setting the tone for the remainder of the night.
The Warriors never trailed in Set 1. After falling behind 10-3 early in the second set, two more Predojevic aces capped a 13-2 stretch which put the visitors ahead by a 16-12 margin.
ESU led by as many as six points in the final set. The Warriors hit .245 overall as a team, and they held Goldey-Beacom (2-7) to a .045 attack percentage.
Junior Daisy Dinkins and freshman
Jasmine Mooney delivered three kills each in the third set. ESU led 8-2 in blocks on the evening, with junior
Jasmine Williams contributing a team-high four block assists.
Lindsey Przywara led the Lightning with 13 kills and five digs.
The Warriors remain on the road this weekend, as they travel to LIU Post for a tri-match on Saturday. ESU faces the host Pioneers at 12 p.m. before taking on Stonehill at 2 p.m.
