Box Score
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Emily LoPresti scored a pair of late goals, including the game-winner 12 seconds into overtime, as Seton Hill overcame a 2-0 deficit to top No. 12 East Stroudsburg University by a 3-2 final on Saturday.
The Griffins (3-1, 2-1 PSAC) earned their first ever win over the Warriors (1-2-1, 1-1-1 PSAC). They leveled up the score on goals in the 80th and 84th minutes after ESU had jumped ahead on a pair of markers by junior
Monica Wood.
LoPresti's winner was a long distance effort from approximately 30 yards out just after the start of the extra session. Seton Hill pulled out a win despite being outshot by a 23-13 margin.
Wood opened up the scorer in the 25th minute, directing a pass from senior
Alex Pickett past Griffin goalie Jessica Neill. Pickett picked up her team-leading third assist, while Wood registered her third goal of 2018.
Midway through the second half, Wood added a fourth marker. Junior
Jessica Woodbyrne had an initial shot stopped by Neill, but Wood sent the rebound into the lower right hand corner to double the Warrior advantage. Wood has 11 goals in her first 27 games at ESU after joining the program as a transfer from DI NJIT prior to the 2017 season.
LoPresti's first marker was also a long distance attempt which found the top left corner. Italia Biondi tied the score for the home side with 6:43 remaining in regulation.
Wood, Pickett and Woodbyrne each had four shots in the defeat for the Warriors. ESU entered the afternoon 4-0-1 lifetime against Seton Hill, including a 2-1 double-overtime victory last season.
ESU looks to get back on track at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Wednesday, when the Warriors host Mansfield for a PSAC matchup beginning at 3 p.m.
