Monica Wood scored a goal apiece to power the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team a 3-0 victory at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.
ESU (7-3, 6-3 PSAC East) fired off 30 shots in the contest, outshooting the Rams by a 30-6 margin, while also holding a 5-0 advantage on corners. Wood, Sicker and
Caitlin Nicholls led the team with five shots each in the match.
Goalie
Mauri Jackson needed to make just two saves in the contest to collect her seventh victory and fifth shutout on the year.
Reinhardt got the scoring started just 6:29 into play with her first goal of the season, with Wood picking up an assist on the play. The Warriors were then held scoreless for the remainder of the half despite posting 13 shots in the frame.
Early in the second half, Sicker found the back of the net to double up ESU's lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute. The tally for Sicker was her second of the season.
Just under 10 minutes later, Wood notched her fourth goal of the season to make it a 3-0 Warrior advantage. Wood's four goals on the year are tied for second-most on the team.
ESU closed out the 3-0 victory to capture its seventh win of the season and sixth in conference play. The Warriors remain in fourth place in the PSAC East standings.
ESU travels to West Chester this Wednesday, October 16 for a 3:30 p.m. match with the Golden Rams.
