LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Ivo Klaric scored in the first overtime period to lift Lock Haven to a 2-1 victory over East Stroudsburg on Saturday night in PSAC East men's soccer action from Hubert Jack Stadium.
The victory pushed Lock Haven to 9-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play on the year, as the Bald Eagles jumped ahead of ESU (9-4-3, 5-4-1) in the PSAC East standings.
East Stroudsburg controlled play for much of the night, outshooting LHU 17-8 in the match while also holding a 7-3 advantage on corners.
After a scoreless first half of play, Brian Flatter netted the game's first goal in the 71
st minute to put Lock Haven out in front. Flatter's strike from around 20 yards out banged off the post and in as he collected his third goal of the season.
It didn't take long for the Warriors to answer as
Irvin Zuzic found the back of the net just under six minutes later to even things up.
Oliver Lundberg sent a nice cross into the box, where Zuzic finished it off for his fourth goal of the season to equalize the game at 1-1.
The Warriors held a 9-5 shot advantage over the Bald Eagles in the second half, but they weren't able to find the go-ahead goal as the game headed into overtime still knotted at 1-1.
With just over two minutes remaining in the first overtime period, Beckham Sibiski crossed one into a dangerous spot, and Klaric touched it past goalkeeper
Evan Miele for the game-winner, sending Lock Haven off with a 2-1 victory. The goal was Klaric's sixth of the season, good for second-most on the team.
Marcus Torgersson led all players in the match with five shots, while four other Warriors registered two apiece.
LHU goalie Camden Cook made five saves in net for the Bald Eagles to record the win.
ESU has its final road regular season game this Wednesday, November 6 at Millersville at 7:30 p.m.
