2019 Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-Americans (pdf)
EAST STROUDSBURG – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its 2019 Division II All-American teams on Wednesday as the East Stroudsburg University women's field hockey program garnered a pair of selections.

Sophomore
Celeste Veenstra and senior
Emily Spangler were part of the 32 student-athletes that were recognized as Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-Americans. Veenstra was named to the first team as a forward, while Spangler was named to the second team as a defender.

The 2019 All-American teams are made up of 23 first-time honorees, five second-time honorees, and four third-time honorees. ESU has placed at least one student-athlete on the first team each year since 2013 and eight times since overall since 2010.

Veenstra was a three-time recipient of the NFHCA DII Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week award. She also garnered first-team All-PSAC accolades and was named the PSAC Field Hockey Championship Most Valuable Player after recording the game-winning goal against Kutztown.

She finished the season with a team-best 50 points (22 goals, six assists) and became just the fourth player in program history to record 50 points in a single-season. Her 22 goals are the third-most for the Warriors in a season and tied with Ally Roth (2014) and Ann Marie Dellibovi (1990).

Spangler, a two-time all-conference honoree, recorded a career-best five goals and 11 points in her final season with the Warriors. She garnered second-team All-PSAC laurels and recorded a pair of game-winning goals this season for ESU.

A two-year starter, she has been an integral part of a Warrior defense that has been one of the toughest to score against. ESU ranked second in the country in goals-against average and second in shutouts per game in 2019. She finished her career with 11 goals, four assists, 26 points, and three game-winning goals for the Warriors.

The First Point USA/NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Dec. 12, while the First Point USA/NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year will be announced on Dec. 16.
