FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Suka Van Gurp had a home run in each game and six combined RBIs, leading the Nova Southeastern offense in a doubleheader sweep over East Stroudsburg University on Sunday.

The Warriors (0-6) dropped a 5-2 decision in the opener, and they were blanked 6-0 in Game 2. The Sharks (6-4) have won six-straight games, including a 6-3 win over an Alabama-Huntsville team ranked No. 11 in Division II last weekend.

Junior Kaylee Hazewski continued to pressure opposing defenses on the base paths, as she recorded three walks and four stolen bases across the two contests. Hazewski has a PSAC-leading eight steals in nine attempts this season after ranking third in the conference with 23 steals last spring.

Two of Hazewski's steals came in the opening inning of Game 1, as she swiped second and third before scoring on an infield throwing error. ESU's second run came in the top of the third, when a sacrifice fly by freshman Denva Shaw-Tait plated sophomore Sofia Cecchin.

All of Nova Southeastern's offense came in the first two frames, with a three-run shot by Van Gurp the decisive blow in the bottom of the second. Senior Angelica Dark (0-2) tossed scoreless innings in the third and fourth, and freshman Mikayla Pourby kept the home side off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest.

Three home runs accounted for the Sharks' offense in Game 2. Van Gurp hit a two-run homer in the first, Sydney Anderson had a solo blast in the second and Kendra Baldridge legged out a three-run inside-the-park homer in the fourth.

Sophomore Taylor Keeney recorded a pair of 1-2-3 innings to close out the nightcap in the circle for the Warriors. Miriam Schmoll (2-2) and Erica Winter combined for a five-hit shutout in Game 2 for the Sharks after Lexie Storrer (4-2) went the distance in the opener.

ESU closes out its season-opening trip with a pair of games at Barry on Monday. The Warriors face the host Buccaneers at 10 a.m., and have a neutral site contest with St. Thomas scheduled for 12 p.m.
