MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Senior

Rachel Seiverd drove in four runs in the opener to lead East Stroudsburg University offensively during defeats to Barry and St. Thomas on Monday.
The Warriors (0-8) dropped an 8-6 decision to Barry in the morning, and they had a late comeback attempt fall short in a 6-4 loss to NAIA member St. Thomas later in the afternoon.
Vicendese went 2 for 3 with a walk in both games, totaling two RBIs and three runs scored. Junior
Kaylee Hazewski, redshirt freshman
Marissa Govan, freshman
Denva Shaw-Tait and sophomore
Ashley Spencer added two-hit outings vs. St. Thomas.
Barry (5-4) led 6-4 after two innings in ESU's first game, with five of those runs crossing the plate in the first inning. The Warriors responded in the top-half of the second with a two-run single from Seiverd and sacrifice flies by freshman
Lexi Wright and sophomore
Sofia Cecchin.
That score held until the fifth, when a clutch two-out two-run single by Seiverd briefly leveled up the score. The Buccaneers, though, came right back with a go-ahead run-scoring double by Karla Santiago in their next trip to the plate, and they added a key insurance run on a fielding error in the sixth.
St. Thomas (3-2) jumped out to a 6-1 lead through four innings in the second contest. The Warriors pulled one run back in the fifth, and they loaded the bases with nobody out on three-consecutive singles in the seventh.
After a strikeout, ESU plated its third and fourth runs on a Vicendese walk and an RBI single by sophomore
Kaitlyn Caleen. St. Thomas pitcher Kaitlyn Spalding, however, then induced a lineout and a pop out to secure the victory.
Freshman
Caitlyn Murray recorded her first career hit and RBI in the loss for the Warriors. Sophomore
Taylor Keeney worked the final 2 2/3 innings in the circle, allowing two hits and a walk while keeping the Bobcats off the scoreboard.
With her four hits today, Vicendese upped her batting average to a team-leading .435. She had four multi-hit games during ESU's first eight contests to open the season.
The Warriors now have a week and a half off before returning to action at a tournament hosted by Virginia State from Feb. 22-24. The tournament begins with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Seton Hill on Friday, Feb. 22.
