LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team looked to erase a seven-point halftime deficit on Wednesday against Lock Haven University but four late free-throws sealed the 58-55 victory for the Bald Eagles on their home court.
ESU (9-14, 6-10 PSAC) rallied in the third quarter and would take a lead against the Bald Eagles before going cold for a 4:57 stretch midway through the fourth quarter. Lock Haven (12-11, 7-9 PSAC) avenged a 21-point loss against the Warriors earlier this season at Koehler Fieldhouse on Jan. 9.

Tiffany Lapotsky sparked the Warrior comeback in the third quarter, hitting three of her four 3-pointers en route to tallying a game-high 18 points. It's the 16th consecutive game that Lapotsky has scored more than 10 points for the Warriors. Junior
Jordan Hertz just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds. She added four assists in the contest to move into sixth-place all-time in school history with 339 assists. Senior
Noelle Powell hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter to give her 123 in her career as she moved into sole possession of fifth-place all-time in school history.
Ahnera Parker finished with a team-high 14 points for Lock Haven, going 6-of-13 from the field. Rileigh Devine went 3-of-6 from downtown and finished with 12 points, while Bink Redman added six points, eight rebounds, and six assists for the Bald Eagles. Taylor Leidy also added nine points and three helpers for Lock Haven.
The Warriors used an 8-0 run to erase their 30-23 halftime deficit and take a 31-30 lead over Lock Haven. Sophomore
Abby Schoffstall hit a jumper in the paint to start the run after trimming the deficit to 30-25. Hertz finished a layup off the fast break thanks to a steal from Schoffstall to give ESU a 31-30 lead with 6:39 left in the quarter.
Lapotsky would give ESU a 34-31 advantage after draining a 3-pointer only to see the Bald Eagles come back down the court and have a chance to knot the score after Devine was fouled following her layup. Lock Haven gained a three-point cushion (37-34) with 2:43 left in the quarter. Lapotsky answered the call for the Warriors with a 3-ball to knot the score 37-37 and once-again to give ESU a 43-42 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
Schoffstall hit a pair of free-throw shots with 6:06 remaining in the fourth quarter to even the score 48-48 but Lock Haven answered with a layup from Redman as the Bald Eagles would lead until the final buzzer. ESU went 4:57 without a bucket as Lock Haven opened a six-point lead during the drought. Lapotsky pulled the Warriors within two (54-52) with 1:15 left to play but four free-throws sealed the victory for Lock Haven.
ESU returns to the court next Wednesday for a 6 p.m. matchup against Bloomsburg at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors host Kutztown for senior night on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
